Who We Are

Harford County Health Department main offices in Bel Air MD

Harford County Health Department is the local operating arm of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) in Harford County and is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of preventive health care, clinical services, and environmental health services to citizens living in Harford County.

 

The Health Department has 7 major divisions:

  1. Population Health
  2. Administration
  3. Environmental Health
  4. Behavioral Health
  5. Clinical Health
  6. Family Health
  7. Care Coordination

Employing over 170 employees, the Health Department provides services at various locations throughout the county and has Community Health Centers in Aberdeen, Bel Air, and Edgewood.

The Health Department operates under the Health General and Environmental Law of the Annotated Code of Maryland.  Additionally, Chapter 9, Article XX, Section 116 of the County Code designates the Council as the Board of Health. Read the code here. 

Public Health Laws and Regulations in Maryland

COMAR Title 10 contains the regulations pertaining to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
COMAR Title 26 contains the regulations pertaining to the Department of the Environment.
