Community-based Initiatives:

The Public Health Education Unit, through its Cigarette Restitution Fund grant, offers training and presentations, and performs outreach to community organizations for purposes of promoting tobacco use prevention and greater public awareness regarding the consequences of tobacco use.

School-based Initiatives:

The Public Health Education Unit, through its Cigarette Restitution Fund grant, designs and implements age-appropriate tobacco awareness and educational interventions for youth, parents and staff, spanning Pre-K through college.   Direct services include:

  • providing educational instruction to school students upon request from schools
  • providing consultation and training to teaching professionals and administrative staff
  • collaborating with advisors to school-based youth organizations
  • providing educational and logistical support of the Harford County Public Schools Tobacco-Use Offender program through educational and cessation interventions with referred youth.
