What is naloxone?

What is naloxone?

Naloxone (Narcan®) is a safe and effective medication that can reverse an opioid overdose and save a life. It only works on opioids—such as heroin, prescription painkillers, and fentanyl—but it’s safe to use even if opioids are not present. If you’re concerned that you or someone you know may be at risk of overdose, naloxone is available to you—no questions asked.

If you use your Naloxone Please complete the Naloxone Use Report form and email to hchd.harmreduction@maryland.gov. Be sure to ask for more naloxone.

Need a refill or have expired Naloxone?

Contact us for a replacement—we’ll also properly dispose of expired kits.
