Environmental Health manages the Bay Restoration Fund (BRF) grant to upgrade and or repair onsite sewage disposal systems (septic systems) with the Best Available Technology (BAT) for nitrogen removal in Harford County or to connect to public sewer if available. The goal of the program is to reduce nutrients from entering the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Failing systems located within the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area should be upgraded with BAT units or connected to public sewer. Other septic systems, including failing systems outside of the Critical Area may also be eligible for grant money depending on funding availability.
