Profiles in PrEP – Aaron

HIV Blog / March 13, 2019

This is a space where people who have been or are currently on PrEP detail their experiences, share insights, and highlight the impact PrEP has had in their lives. This is Aaron’s profile.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

A: Early 30’s, gay, HUGE nerd, grew up in a rural town.

Q: What makes PrEP relevant to you?

A: It is a means to take control of my sexual health.

Q: What has your experience with PrEP been like?

A: Overall positive, great staff at the health clinic, no issues with insurance, side effects have not been noticeable and regular testing means I am better aware of my own sexual health.

Q: If you could convey one thing about PrEP to those reading this, what would it be?

A: The drug is less expensive then you think. There are so many ways to get funding for it. Do not let the initial cost scare you away from having the peace of mind that comes with taking control of your sexual health.
