Public Information Act (PIA) Program
In accordance with the Maryland Public Information Act (PIA), Environmental Health staff provides the public access to all available property records, and inspections, as well as inspections of food service facilities, mobile home parks, camps and public swimming pools. Staff also provides inspections and reports on air quality and solid waste, rabies and vector control, and complaints while limiting the availability of protected information. Environmental Health also provides documents for environmental concern studies when requested.

Environmental Concerns
An environmental concern is defined as anything that poses a potential risk to the quality of the groundwater in Harford County and to the health of individuals drinking from the groundwater.
Environmental concerns include the following:
- Fuel Storage Tanks – underground or above ground tanks that contain gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, or waste oil. Click here (external site)

- Landfills/Dumps – areas in Harford County where solid waste is disposed, including landfills, rubble fills, illegal dumps, and farm dumps. Click here (external site) for more information.
- Sludge Sites – agricultural properties in the county where sewage sludge is applied for the fertilization of crops. Click here (external site)

- Salt Storage – areas in the county where salt is stored for use on roads during inclement weather. Click here (PDF) (external site)
